History Of Turkish Folk Dances Department

Sakarya University State Conservatory Turkish Folk Dances Department admitted its first students and started to give education in 2001.With the special talents examination, 10 girls and 10 boys total 20 students accepted to this department every year. Turkish Folk Dances Department provides four years of license education programme with 6 instructors. Since its foundation, this department transformed its experiences of education and training into stage performances. Many stage performance inside and outside Turkey has been done with the dance theater group “Türk Güneşi” which was established in 2004. Some of these performances were; “Taklitten Oyuna Oyundan Sanata”, “Atayurttan Anayurda Türkmen Dansları”, “Maziden Atiye”, “Ruhtan Bedene Bedenden Sonsuzluğa” and “İlk Hasat” which was associated with Zimich in Utreccht, Holland. Turkish Folk Dances Department is now continuing its stage performances with Nevi Dans Stage Arts Group which was established in 2011 and since then “Bu Topraklar İçin”, “Bedende Hayat Bulan Türküler Aşk”, “Renklerin Ritmi”, “Her İnsan Bir Dünya”, “Bir Ayrılık Bir Yoksulluk Bir Ölüm” stage performances met with the audience. And as from 2014, every year scientific and artistic activities conducted within World Dance Day Events.
